UK Small Business Toolkit is a free collection of calculators, trackers, and decision-support tools built for UK limited company directors, sole traders, freelancers, and small business owners.
Running a business in the UK involves a constant stream of tax calculations, compliance deadlines, and financial decisions. We built this toolkit to make those tasks quicker and easier, without requiring an accountancy degree or expensive software.
Every tool on this site is free to use, requires no account or sign-up, and stores nothing on our servers. Your data stays in your browser.
The toolkit currently includes 9 tools across 5 categories, with more being added regularly:
- Company Tax & Finance: Corporation tax calculator with marginal relief, ltd company cost calculator, sole trader vs ltd comparison
- VAT & Invoicing: VAT calculator with Flat Rate Scheme lookup, professional invoice generator with PDF export
- Companies House & Compliance: Filing deadline tracker, Making Tax Digital checker
- Pricing & Profitability: Break-even calculator with profit/loss chart, profit margin calculator with industry benchmarks
All tools are built using current HMRC and Companies House rates and rules. We aim to update them each April when new rates are announced. Key sources include:
- Corporation tax rates: HMRC guidance
- Employer NI thresholds: April 2025 changes applied
- VAT Flat Rate Scheme percentages: current HMRC sector list
- Companies House filing fees: current published schedule
- MTD for Income Tax: April 2026 launch and subsequent thresholds
- National Living Wage: April 2025 rates applied
Despite our best efforts, rates change and edge cases exist. Always verify critical figures with a qualified accountant or directly with HMRC.
The tools and information on this site are for guidance purposes only and do not constitute financial, tax, or legal advice. Results are estimates based on the information you provide and the rates programmed into each tool.
You should always consult a qualified accountant, tax adviser, or solicitor before making financial or legal decisions for your business. We accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from reliance on information provided by this site.
